Moving on gun crime!
- A tougher state law for convicted felons in possession of guns
- Priority placed on prosecuting gun crimes by both federal and state prosecutors - with a new no plea bargaining policy on state cases for convicted felons in possession of guns
- An effective effort to comminicate to the street level the consequences of committing a gun crime - with the ultimate goal of changing behavior
We thank Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland, District Attorney Amy Weirich, Acting U.S. Attorney Larry Laurenzi, Memphis Police Director Michael Rallings, Sheriff Bill Oldham, State Senator Mark Morris, and other legislators for moving forward on curbing gun crime, a big part of the Operation: Safe Community crime plan.
