Group Violence Intervention Program

Memphis, TN – March 14, 2024 – The City of Memphis continues to struggle with controlling violent crime and has one of the highest rates in the country compared to other large cities. GVI is an evidence-based strategy to help prevent and combat group-involved violence in the community and is built on the idea that group-involved individuals are a small part of a city’s population but are responsible for almost 70% of homicides and gun violence incidents in a city (National Network for Safe Communities, 2016, 2020).
